Supporting Students Beyond the Classroom

Academic Advisor

Seawolf Scholars provides holistic advising to students throughout their undergraduate experience. Advising also supports students by connecting them to campus services, leadership opportunities, and social activities that help them feel connected to SSU.

Learn more on our Seawolf Scholars Advising page.

Priority Registration

Seawolf Scholars students are eligible for priority registration, which can support timely graduation and successful degree completion.

To receive priority registration, students are required to meet with the Seawolf Scholars Advisor at least twice a semester to review their academic plan and with their faculty advisor to review degree-specific requirements.

On-Campus Housing

Seawolf Scholars who meet REACH housing deadlines are guaranteed on-campus housing. Students are also eligible to remain in their campus housing during Winter Break, Spring Break, and campus closures at no extra cost. Students who meet summer eligibility requirements may also be able to stay on campus through the SWS Summer Housing Grant.

Community Events

Belonging is an important part of student well-being. Seawolf Scholars hosts events throughout the academic year to help students build community, connect with peers, and develop a strong network of support.

CAASE Services

Seawolf Scholars students have access to the CAASE Lounge, a supportive space to study, recharge, and connect. The lounge also offers free printing, computers in the Quiet Lab, a microwave, free school supplies, and snacks.

Resource Referral

Seawolf Scholars connects students with on- and off-campus resources to support their academic, financial, housing, food, mental health, physical health, and overall well-being needs. The program can also work closely with students and their county of origin to help coordinate the transition of services and ensure foster youth are fully supported.

Enrichment Opportunities

Our educational enrichment programs help students build skills that support their academic and personal success. Areas of focus include financial literacy, career exploration, employment readiness, and leadership development.

Scholarships & Critical Need Funding

Seawolf Scholars students are eligible to apply for several scholarship opportunities at SSU, including:

The Seawolf Scholars team also helps connect students to off-campus scholarship opportunities. In addition, students may apply to the Seawolf Scholars Critical Needs Fund for unexpected or emergency expenses (e.g., a flat tire, car issues, unexpected medical expenses). This support helps students stay focused on school while navigating financial challenges.

Additional Services

Additional services may be offered each year based on student feedback and identified needs. Students are encouraged to let the Seawolf Scholars team know if they need financial support, and the team can help explore available resources and funding options when applicable.
